The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has disclosed that it successfully uncovered and dismantled a suspected illegal arms manufacturing facility in Kore Village, along Batsari Road in Batagarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The operation took place on Thursday, 26 February 2026, at approximately 1000 hours. It was executed by the Command’s Special Rapid Response Squad following credible intelligence.
In a statement released on Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Hamisu, explained that upon receipt of the intelligence, the State Commandant, Abbas Dan-ile Moriki, instructed the squad to respond swiftly while upholding professionalism.
He noted that the team acted without delay, uncovered and dismantled the facility, confiscated weapons and fabrication equipment, and arrested four suspects at the scene.
The suspects — Haruna Lawal (28), Badamasi Kabiru (50), Hamza Lawal (30), and Sagir Abba (25) — were apprehended inside the premises while allegedly engaging in the unlawful activity.
Hamisu further stated that the suspects are currently undergoing investigation to identify other members of the syndicate and any potential buyers. He added that due process would be strictly observed in prosecuting the case.
The Commandant reassured residents of adequate security and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to curb the proliferation of illegal arms, expose the activities of vandals and economic saboteurs, and combat criminality across the state.
“Commandant Moriki thanks the general public for their continued cooperation and urges more support for security agencies by providing actionable and timely intelligence to help expose the activities of miscreants in the state.
“The Commandant remains committed to promoting safety, security, and protecting critical national assets and infrastructure in Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.
“The Command remains dedicated to ensuring a peaceful environment for the good people of Katsina State and Nigeria,” he stated.
