Chelsea FC endured one of their worst-ever European defeats, crashing out of the UEFA Champions League after a heavy 8-2 aggregate loss to Paris Saint-Germain, including a 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put PSG ahead within six minutes, before Bradley Barcola doubled the lead in the 14th minute with the visitors’ second attempt on goal.

The early goals effectively killed the contest, and substitute Senny Mayulu added a third later in the match to compound Chelsea’s misery in the last-16 clash.

During the game, sections of the home crowd chanted for former owner Roman Abramovich, while others voiced frustration at the current ownership in the directors’ box—this coming after the Premier League imposed a record fine on the club over undeclared payments.

PSG’s opener came from hesitant defending by Mamadou Sarr, allowing Kvaratskhelia to pounce and fire a low shot into the net.

Chelsea responded with attacking efforts from Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernández, Pedro Neto, and Trevoh Chalobah, but PSG struck again.

After Moisés Caicedo lost possession in midfield, PSG broke quickly, and Barcola controlled brilliantly before finishing into the top corner to make it 2-0.

Despite further chances created by João Pedro, Palmer, and Jorrel Hato, Chelsea remained vulnerable on the counterattack, with PSG continuing to threaten.

The home side were booed off at half-time, prompting head coach Liam Rosenior to substitute Sarr for academy player Josh Acheampong.

Chelsea came close again early in the second half through João Pedro, but Rosenior later withdrew key players including Palmer, Fernández, and João Pedro, effectively conceding the tie.

Substitute Liam Delap nearly scored, but Mayulu sealed the emphatic victory with a curling effort to make it 3-0 on the night and 8-2 overall.

The situation worsened late on when Chalobah was stretchered off injured, leaving Chelsea with 10 men for the closing stages.

PSG will now face the winner of the tie between Liverpool FC and Galatasaray, with the Turkish side holding a 1-0 advantage ahead of the second leg at Anfield.
