Hollywood legend, Chuck Norris has died at the age of 86, his family announced on Friday in a heartfelt statement.
Born Carlos Ray Norris on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, Norris rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most recognisable figures in global entertainment. A distinguished martial artist before his acting career, he held black belts in multiple disciplines and founded his own style, Chun Kuk Do.
Norris’s family said he passed away peacefully on March 19 in Kauai, Hawaii, following a sudden medical emergency that led to his hospitalisation. The circumstances surrounding his death have been kept private at the family’s request, but they emphasised that he was surrounded by loved ones and “at peace” when he died.
“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength,” the family shared. “To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.”
A Global Icon
Norris became a household name through blockbuster films and television. He starred in action classics like ‘Missing in Action’ and became best known for his role as Cordell Walker in the hit CBS series Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001), which made him a defining figure of ’90s action entertainment.
Beyond his on‑screen work, Norris was a celebrated martial arts champion whose discipline and persona helped shape action cinema. In later years, he also became the subject of beloved internet “Chuck Norris facts,” reflecting his lasting impact on pop culture.
Family and Legacy
Norris is survived by his wife, Gena O’Kelley, his children and grandchildren. Messages of tribute and condolence have poured in from fans, colleagues and public figures across the world, highlighting his influence both as a performer and as a mentor to generations.
