Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State organized a solidarity walk on Wednesday to show their backing for President Bola Tinubu.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the event, led by Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was titled “TinubuDatiwa Half a Million Walk 2027.”

The walk was coordinated by Kehinde Akinrotoye, former Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Sports and the Coordinator of the TinubuDatiwa Support Group.

Addressing participants at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, Aiyedatiwa praised the turnout of APC members and their commitment to the programme.

He described the initiative as commendable, noting that it was “impressive and encouraging toward the re-election of Tinubu.”

The governor emphasized that the walk is part of several planned activities by different support groups in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

“This is a healthy initiative put together by one of the support groups here in Ondo State in support of the re-election of President Bola Tinubu. It is one of the several activities being organised to mobilise grassroots support ahead of 2027,” he said.

Calling himself a “foremost patron” of the support groups, Aiyedatiwa said his participation demonstrates his commitment to the cause and solidarity with the organisers.

He expressed satisfaction with the large turnout, which included government officials, civil servants, artisans, and civil society members, calling it a clear display of widespread support.

The governor expressed confidence that sustained efforts would result in Ondo State delivering strong support for the President in 2027.

“By the grace of God, come January 2027, Ondo State will deliver nothing less than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu. I am delighted by the massive turnout. People came out voluntarily in the early hours of the day, which also highlights the importance they attach to healthy living. Walking and exercise are essential for physical fitness, mental alertness and overall well-being.

“Akure is just a coordinating centre. The real work is at the grassroots, the units, wards and local governments. I have advised all coordinators to return to their respective areas and intensify mobilisation efforts,” he added.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Henry Omoyofunmi, said the programme demonstrated that people were ready for the Renewed Hope initiatives of the ruling party.

“This shows the serious efforts being put in place by the state for the campaign and re-election of President Bola Tinubu,” he noted.

Programme coordinator Akinrotoye stated that the walk was intended to galvanize support for the President across Ondo State’s senatorial districts.

“The essence of this walk is to mobilise support for our President across the 18 local governments and the three senatorial districts of Ondo State. This Half a Million Man Walk is a testament to the trust and confidence we have in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda. We are committed to this journey, and together, we will succeed,” Akinrotoye said.
