President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday received Caleb Mutfwang at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting comes three days after the deadly Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, which claimed the lives of at least 28 people. According to the State House media office, the governor arrived at about 6:45pm.

The visit followed the president’s earlier directive summoning the governor for discussions over the deteriorating security situation in the North-Central state.

In response to the killings, the president described the attack as barbaric and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” Tinubu had said.

While condemning the incidents, the president also praised Mutfwang’s efforts to manage the situation and instructed security agencies to intensify the search for the perpetrators.

He further cautioned against portraying the attacks as religiously motivated, warning that such narratives could inflame tensions.

The meeting is expected to address immediate security steps to prevent further violence in Plateau State.

Meanwhile, Tinubu is scheduled to visit Jos on Thursday to sympathise with the government and residents over the attacks. His planned trip to Iperu in Ogun State has been postponed to accommodate the visit.
