Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune has expressed delight over the return of Victor Boniface to the squad following injury.

Boniface sustained a knee injury last December and underwent surgery earlier this year. He was initially expected to miss the remainder of the season but is now on track to feature again before the campaign concludes.

“First of all, I’m happy to have met him. We had a long talk. He indicated that he wants to help us in our fight to stay in the league,” Thioune said.

The coach added that while the striker will not be available immediately, he could play a role in the coming weeks as the team faces opponents of similar level.

“For me, that offers another option, but not for this weekend. In the coming weeks, we’re playing against teams of similar strength, and if we can give Victor a few minutes of playing time, that could be a big help and a real asset for us.”

Boniface joined Werder Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer. The 25-year-old has recorded two assists in 11 league appearances for the club.
