Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged Christians to reflect deeply on the enduring message of love, sacrifice, and hope that Easter represents.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and obtained in Osogbo on Friday, Adeleke described Easter as a powerful reminder of life triumphing over death and light overcoming darkness. He highlighted that the celebration embodies selflessness, faith, and hope for a brighter future.

Acknowledging the spiritual importance of the season, the governor emphasized that “the sacrifice of Jesus Christ calls for renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.”

He assured Christians in Osun of his administration’s “continuous dedication to fairness, inclusiveness, and the protection of religious freedom,” stressing the government’s commitment to building a society where everyone, regardless of faith, can thrive without fear or discrimination.

Adeleke also encouraged Christians to “embody the virtues of humility, forgiveness, and love exemplified during Easter, highlighting that these values are essential for strengthening unity and advancing the collective progress of the state.”

Similarly, Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East in the Senate, called on Nigerians to reflect on Easter’s deeper meaning by embracing lives rooted in sacrifice, compassion, and love for others.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Segun-Progress, Fadahunsi commended Christians for completing the 40-day Lenten fast, describing it as a demonstration of discipline, faith, and spiritual dedication. He urged believers to carry the values nurtured during Lent and Easter beyond the season, saying:

“Jesus sacrificed His throne, came to earth to live like man, and because without the shedding of blood there cannot be remission of sins, He laid down His life so we can be saved. Christ’s sacrifice was borne out of love for humanity. That same love must guide our actions, decisions, and relationships with others, regardless of differences.”

Fadahunsi also encouraged Christians to pray for Nigeria, seeking peace, unity, progress, and guidance for leaders at all levels.

Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress extended Easter greetings to Christians in the state, across Nigeria, and globally.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC described Easter as a sacred period symbolizing hope, renewal, sacrifice, and the ultimate triumph of light over darkness through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The party encouraged residents to draw inspiration from Easter’s lessons by fostering unity, peaceful coexistence, and renewed dedication to collective progress in the state.
