The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, has expressed strong support for Governor Alex Otti’s re-election, stating that the governor “deserves a second term” to further solidify what he called “unmatched achievements.”
This follows the launch of a large-scale grassroots campaign by a group named Alex Otti 4+4 Movement to rally support for Otti’s re-election bid.
Emeruwa made his comments at an event organized by the Vanguard Movement for Continuity (VMC) in Owerrinta, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, where the group officially endorsed Otti for a second term in 2027. Representing the governor at the Adventist Technical Secondary College (ASTEC), Emeruwa highlighted Otti’s transformative impact across various sectors, which he believes has redefined governance in the state. He said, “His scorecard is unmatched. Development is ongoing simultaneously across all sectors, and even the opposition cannot deny his achievements.” Emeruwa further emphasized that Abians are regaining trust in the state, with many returning home to invest. He described Otti as “God-sent” to rejuvenate Abia and affirmed that Otti “is not an option” for the next election.
Earlier, the leader of VMC and General Manager of the Abia State Debt Management Office, Kingsley Nwaigburu, explained that the movement is a broad-based platform of supporters committed to ensuring Otti’s return in 2027. He pointed to the administration’s progress, including the clearing of salary and pension arrears, improvement in healthcare and education infrastructure, road and bridge rehabilitation, enhanced security, and the creation of a more investor-friendly environment.
The event also featured the launch of a book titled “Threats to Societal Values and Advancement,” authored by Fineboy Joseph, a lecturer at Clifford University, Owerrinta. Joseph discussed the moral challenges in society, including drug abuse, cultism, corruption, and the erosion of values, and proposed practical solutions. The Vice Chancellor of Clifford University, Chimezie Omeonu, called the book timely and encouraged both institutions and individuals to adopt its message.
Other attendees voiced their support for Otti, citing his visible infrastructure projects and improved governance as key reasons for endorsing his second-term bid. According to Vanguard, Otti has also received endorsements from multiple groups as political momentum builds ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections in the state.
In a related development, the Alex Otti 4+4 Movement announced the commencement of a major grassroots mobilization effort to garner support for the governor’s re-election. The group stated that this initiative aims to “ensure continuity of the ongoing good governance, economic transformation, and sustainable development across Abia State.” Chairman of the group, Hon. Chibueze Okah, expressed satisfaction with Otti’s performance and stated that the group is confident he will build on the achievements of his administration if re-elected. The group’s objectives include voter education, registration drives, monitoring government performance, and economic advocacy.
