The Governor of Ekiti State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, is set to formally commence his re-election campaign on April 27, with his team stating that the exercise will focus on issues rather than personal attacks.

The Director-General of the Biodun Oyebanji 2026 Campaign Organisation, Cyril Fasuyi, explained that the governor is seeking a second term based on his performance in office and the support of the electorate.

Addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Fasuyi revealed that campaign efforts had already begun at the grassroots level through door-to-door mobilisation. He added that the official launch would take place on April 27 in accordance with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“Our objective is for APC to win for Governor Biodun Oyebanji in all the 177 wards of Ekiti State. We are targeting a minimum of 500,000 votes. With discipline and hard work, it is achievable,” Fasuyi said.

He noted that the campaign would highlight the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and governance reforms.

Fasuyi also stated that Oyebanji had met the expectations set by his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, to surpass earlier performance benchmarks.

He outlined progress made under the administration, including road rehabilitation across all 16 local government areas and 22 Local Council Development Areas, renovation of schools, teacher training, and the restoration of bursary payments.

He added that healthcare facilities had been upgraded, security improved, and transparency strengthened, with Ekiti reportedly achieving top scores in audit and performance indices.

According to him, ongoing initiatives include the Ekiti Knowledge Zone project and the revival of farm settlements to enhance agricultural productivity.

Fasuyi further highlighted the inclusion of women in key government positions, such as Deputy Governor, Deputy Speaker, Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, Accountant-General, and leadership roles at the local government level.

He stressed that the campaign would be driven by party members across wards and local councils, urging a peaceful approach.

“This campaign is intra-local government, intra-ward, and intra-unit. It must run without rancour. We will market our record and our plan, not abuse opponents,” he added.

He also called on party supporters to shun violence, emphasising that the campaign would remain strictly issue-based.
