Gunmen kill Pastor in Adamawa, Police launch Manhunt

Gunmen have killed a pastor, Emmanuel Ezeoikwe, in Zinal village, Song Local Government Area.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the victim’s residence.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, said the report was received at about 6:30 a.m.

“On the 21st of April, 2026, at about 6:30 am, the Command received a report… that at about 12:48 am of the same date, suspected gunmen invaded the village and shot the victim.

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives of the Command swiftly moved to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the victim and rushed him to a hospital.

“He was, however, confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while the corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy,” the statement read.

Nguroje added that three empty AK-47 shells were recovered from the scene.

He said the command has launched an investigation into the killing, with the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, ordering a discreet probe and deploying tactical teams to track down those responsible.

The police urged residents to remain calm and assist with useful information to aid the investigation.
