Celebrities turned heads in glamorous and luxurious outfits on Saturday as they gathered in Lagos for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA 2026).
The event, which celebrates excellence in African film and television, attracted several entertainment stars including Osas Ighodaro, Laura Ikeji, KieKie, Nana Akua Addo, Mercy Eke, Uche Jombo, Tobi Bakre, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Akin Faminu.
The awards weekend began on Friday with Cultural Day celebrations, where guests appeared in traditional outfits reflecting African heritage while maintaining the elegance of the occasion.
Organisers presented awards across 32 categories, including 18 jury-selected awards, 11 audience-voted categories, and three special recognition honours.
This year’s edition also introduced two new categories — Best Indigenous Language Film for North Africa and Central Africa — to expand the awards’ pan-African representation.
Among the major contenders were ‘Gingerrr’, ‘The Herd’, ‘My Father’s Shadow’, ‘3 Cold Dishes’, and ‘The Serpent’s Gift’.
The ceremony was broadcast live on Africa Magic channels and streamed online, with winners decided through a combination of public voting and panel decisions.
