Police arrest six suspected “one chance” Robbers in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a notorious “one chance” robbery syndicate allegedly operating around Ago Palace Way in Okota, Lagos.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement shared on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, on X.

According to the statement, operatives intercepted the suspects during a stop-and-search operation along Ago Palace Way.

Police said the suspects were travelling in a tricycle with registration number AAA 720 QL when they were flagged down while allegedly attempting to rob unsuspecting commuters.

On sighting officers, the suspects reportedly abandoned the vehicle and tried to escape.

“During the operation, a tricycle with registration number AAA 720 QL conveying about six occupants was intercepted while attempting to rob some citizens,” the statement said.

“A cutlass allegedly used for their operations and a mobile phone were recovered at the scene.”

The suspects were identified as Basiru Rilwan (23), Afeez Akeem (25), Ademola Yekeen (20), Sodipo Oyeyemi (27), Ayomide Gafar, and Fabayo Michael (28).

Further investigation reportedly led to the recovery of a dummy pistol allegedly used in their operations.

The police said all suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

The Command, led by Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed its commitment to proactive policing and urged residents to continue providing useful information to help curb crime across the state.
