Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin has congratulated Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, after his affirmation as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf was affirmed on Thursday at a gathering held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where APC supporters from all 44 local government areas of Kano State reportedly attended despite heavy rainfall.
Barau said the process followed the provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC’s internal guidelines.
In a statement he personally signed, the senator noted that he moved the motion for Yusuf’s affirmation, while Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila seconded it.
He added that the APC Congress Committee chairman from the party’s national secretariat, Mukhtar Shagari, later declared Yusuf as the party’s governorship candidate for Kano State.
“I heartily congratulate His Excellency, the People’s Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, on his emergence as the governorship candidate of our party for the 2027 general election,” Barau said.
He expressed confidence that Kano residents would support Yusuf again in the February 6, 2027 governorship election, citing ongoing development projects across the state.
“Insha Allah, the good people of Kano State, who continue to witness and appreciate the numerous developmental projects across the state, will once again give him their mandate,” he added.
Barau also expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates would secure victory in the January 16, 2027 elections.
“Together, we will continue working tirelessly to address the challenges facing our people and deliver greater dividends of democracy,” he stated.
