Fresh cracks have emerged within the Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress following the suspension of a serving member of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Auyo, and six other party figures.

The disciplinary action, announced by the party leadership, came in the aftermath of the recently concluded APC primary elections in the state.

A statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Bashir Kundu, said the suspension became effective on May 31. The affected individuals include party executives and women leaders from Auyo Ward, as well as officials at the local government level.

Tensions reportedly escalated after Auyo failed to secure the party’s nomination during the primaries. Shortly afterwards, supporters gathered to welcome him back to his constituency, where some were captured in a viral video expressing dissatisfaction with the party leadership and making comments seen as hostile to the APC.

Explaining the reason for the sanctions, the party accused the affected members of conduct considered detrimental to its unity.

“The party took this step based on allegations of betrayal of the party, causing internal conflicts, and dividing members,” Kundu stated in the release.

Among those suspended are State Deputy Women Leader Aisha Adamu Auyo, Ward Women Leader Yargabi Babannan Auyo, Ward Chairman Musa Idris Zabarau, Deputy Local Government APC Chairman Ibrahim Ayama, Financial Secretary Saje Hadiyau and Deputy Ward Chairman Sani Abdullahi Hadiyau.

Efforts to get a response from the federal lawmaker were unsuccessful, as he could not be reached for comment.

In a separate move, Governor Umar Namadi approved the indefinite suspension of four political appointees.

The affected aides include Abbas Makama, Salisu Muhammad (popularly known as Rosy Auyo), Ibrahim Yunusa and Umar Abdulkadir, also called Alhaji Bullet Auyo.

While the government confirmed their suspension, no official explanation was provided for the decision. However, political observers believe the action may be connected to the fallout from the APC primaries and alleged acts of disloyalty within the party ranks.

The latest developments have intensified discussions about internal divisions within the ruling party in Jigawa as preparations for future political contests continue.
