Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and one half of the former music duo P-Square, has appealed to fans to stop comparing him with his twin brother and former bandmate, Paul Okoye, or any other artiste.

Speaking in a recent video message, Mr P said he is fully committed to building his solo music career and wants to avoid distractions that could hinder his progress.

He stressed that he has his own identity and style, urging fans to appreciate him for who he is rather than drawing comparisons with other musicians.

“Stop comparing me with my brother or anyone else. Enough of the comparisons. I want to do me. There is no one like me. I want to do my thing and chop my money,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr P has claimed that his brief reunion with his twin brother, Rudeboy, affected the momentum of his solo career.

Speaking in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos, Mr P said before their reunion, he was gaining 100,000 followers on Instagram daily, but lost momentum after they reunited.

“Before the reunion, I used to gain 100,000 followers every day. After Davido, it was Don Jazzy and me who were the biggest African celebrities on social media. But after the reunion, everything just dropped,” he said.

Mr P said he deserves more accolades than he is getting, stressing that he has stayed relevant in the music industry for nearly 30 years.

“I have been in the game for nearly 30 years, and I am still trending to date. I deserve more respect,” he added.
