A viral video has shown Nigerian actor Baba Ijesha, whose real name is Olanrewaju Omiyinka, appearing to mock his critics with a pointed remark linked to his sexual assault case.

In the clip, the actor is seen surrounded by fans eager to take photographs with him. Before posing for pictures, he asked if anyone in the crowd was above 18 and advised people to confirm ages before taking photos with others.

“Are you an adult? If you’re over 18, you’re permitted to take a picture with me,” he said, drawing laughter from those around him.

“When they come closer to you, they want to take a picture or greet you, ask them if they are an adult first.”

Baba Ijesha’s public reappearance comes months after regaining his freedom from prison. He completed his jail term in November 2025 after being convicted on charges including indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.

In July 2022, a Lagos High Court handed him a 16-year sentence, although the terms ran concurrently, resulting in roughly five years in prison.

During his incarceration, the actor repeatedly insisted he was innocent. In April 2024, he claimed he had been framed and said he was simply “acting according to a script” given to him by a colleague.

He later released a song titled “Eniwaye Daran,” where he recounted the events surrounding his arrest. In the song, he alleged that comedian Princess invited him to her home under the pretence of offering food and a movie role, only to exploit his celebrity status in what he described as a deliberate setup.

Last week, Baba Ijesha also announced the birth of his child with his wife, Abiodun Tokunbo.
