An emotional tribute from the wife of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has emerged, offering a personal reflection on their love story, shared memories, and the pain of his passing.

The message, published in a funeral pamphlet during his burial rites in Abia State and shared via Colors NG on Instagram, described Ekubo as her “sunshine” and “answered prayer,” highlighting the depth of their bond.

She recalled how a familiar childhood tune they both loved, “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,” became a meaningful symbol of their relationship.

She also reflected on how he supported her through one of her most difficult periods.

“When my mother passed a year ago, you were my anchor. You held me together during a season where everything felt heavy. Your love gave me the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other,” she wrote.

The tribute showed her struggle to come to terms with his absence, noting how daily life now feels incomplete without him.

“I find myself reaching for you in a hundred different ways each day, only to remember I cannot. How do I live in a world where I won’t hear the random bursts of you calling out, ‘Pookstar’?”

She described their relationship as one filled with intimacy, humour and private expressions that created a world only they shared.

“Before there was Pookie, before there was Pookstar, there was Asa, Asa Ikuku, one of the very first names you gave me, and then there was Nwa. The name somehow became home,” she wrote.

She also noted how deeply she was embraced by his family, describing their connection as one built on mutual love and acceptance.

“Through you, they became my family too. You loved them fiercely, and I hope you know that I will always love them too. Dadaa, rest easy  I’ve got them.”

Recalling their playful bond, she highlighted their shared jokes and Igbo expressions that created a private language between them.

“Some of my favourite memories are found in our banter in Igbo. We had our own language filled with slang, jokes, nicknames and expressions that made perfect sense to us and absolutely no sense to anyone else,” she wrote.

She further described Ekubo as someone who expressed love through thoughtful, quiet gestures and attention to detail.

“If love could be measured in little things, you would be impossible to quantify. It was in the details you carefully recorded, the things people mentioned once and forgot.”

She added that even small handwritten notes he left around their home remain deeply meaningful to her.

The tribute also reflected on their shared faith, describing their relationship as one rooted in prayer and spiritual connection.

“Our marriage was in so many ways a faith journey. We prayed together, trusted God and His promises together. No conversation was ever too ordinary for prayer,” she wrote.

She concluded with a message of enduring love and faith, expressing hope and gratitude for their time together.
