Security operatives have thwarted an attempted intrusion at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident reportedly occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday when personnel on duty noticed suspicious movements around the institute and swiftly moved to secure the premises.

Sources said the suspected intruders fled into nearby bushes after security operatives responded, preventing them from gaining access to the facility.

No casualties were recorded, and activities at the institute continued without disruption.

Efforts to obtain official reactions from the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Enduring Peace were unsuccessful, as their spokespersons could not be reached at the time of filing this report.

Management of NIPSS had also not issued an official statement on the incident.

The development comes less than two weeks after the Federal Government ordered a review and strengthening of security measures at NIPSS and other critical national institutions following an earlier security breach at the institute.

During a recent visit to the facility, Kashim Shettima said the directive aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to protecting strategic national assets and preventing future security threats.

According to the vice president, proposed measures include improved surveillance systems, tighter perimeter security, stricter access controls and increased deployment of security personnel.

He also assured that those responsible for previous security incidents at the institute would be identified and brought to justice.
