The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has congratulated Osasere Okundaye for becoming Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant at just 16 years old.

In a statement issued on Monday, the minister described the achievement as an extraordinary display of dedication, discipline, resilience and excellence.

“I heartily congratulate Miss Osasere Okundaye on her outstanding achievement of becoming Nigeria’s youngest Chartered Accountant at just 16 years of age. This remarkable milestone is a testament to the power of hard work, discipline, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence,” Olawande said.

He noted that her success reflects the immense potential of Nigerian youths and serves as an inspiration for young people to pursue their ambitions with determination.

According to him, Okundaye’s accomplishment proves that with the right support and commitment, young Nigerians can overcome barriers, set records and achieve remarkable milestones.

The minister also commended her parents, teachers, mentors and family members for their roles in nurturing and supporting her journey to success.

Olawande reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s commitment to creating opportunities and implementing policies that empower young Nigerians to maximise their talents and contribute meaningfully to national development.

“Osasere’s achievement reinforces our confidence that the future of Nigeria is bright in the hands of focused, determined, and talented young citizens,” he said.

Okundaye earned the distinction after qualifying through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, surpassing the previous record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who achieved the feat at the age of 17.

The ICAN qualification is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most rigorous professional certifications, typically requiring years of study and examinations before candidates attain chartered status.
