The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded the state Police Command for foiling an alleged assassination attempt on its Governorship Campaign Council Director-General, Wole Oke.

Police authorities had on Thursday paraded a disc jockey, Olalekan Oriyomi, alongside Ayotunde Ikupolati, 44, and Femi Fakinleye, 31, in connection with the incident reported in Ipetu Ijesa. An English Beretta pistol loaded with four rounds of live ammunition was also recovered from one of the suspects.

In a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Olabisi, the party praised the police for what it described as a swift and proactive response that prevented a potential security breach.

The APC expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation and urged the police to ensure that all those involved are identified and prosecuted.

It also called for stronger efforts to tackle political violence in the state, while urging its supporters to remain focused ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
