The Presidency has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate and expose alleged internal collaborators linked to the ongoing Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal.

In a statement released on Friday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, said investigators must uncover those who allegedly helped Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew operate the purportedly fictitious agency.

Ajayi alleged that unnamed collaborators within government institutions enabled Adeniyi’s activities and called for everyone found culpable to be arrested and prosecuted.

He also accused Adeniyi of attempting to implicate the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, in what he described as a criminal enterprise.

According to the presidential aide, the suspect exploited public perception by making corruption allegations against public officials to divert attention from the allegations against him.

The Presidency further urged security agencies to determine how Adeniyi allegedly forged presidential appointment letters, maintained dozens of bank accounts in the names of non-existent government bodies, hosted foreign diplomats and reportedly opened a Central Bank account while presenting himself as the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

Investigations into the alleged fraud are ongoing.
