The Christian Association of Nigeria has expressed sadness over the passing of Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye, founder of All Christians Fellowship Mission and a former chaplain at the Presidential Villa, describing him as a respected church leader who dedicated his life to serving God and humanity.

In a statement released on Thursday, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh extended condolences to the late minister’s wife, Rev. Mrs. Toyin Okoye, his children, members of his ministry, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and the Christian faithful.

According to Okoh, Rev. Okoye played significant roles in advancing Christianity in Nigeria through his preaching, mentorship and commitment to promoting harmony among Christian denominations.

He noted that the late cleric served in several leadership capacities, including CAN Chairman in the Federal Capital Territory, Chairman of the FCT chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and later CAN’s National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.

Beyond church leadership, Okoh said Rev. Okoye contributed to national development through appointments to the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission. He also served as chaplain to two Nigerian presidents and led worship activities at the Aso Rock Villa Chapel.

“I remember Rev. Okoye as a humble servant of God who carried every responsibility entrusted to him with wisdom, grace, and unwavering dedication. He was deeply committed to the unity of the Church and was always willing to lend his voice and experience whenever called upon.

“His counsel, calm disposition, and passion for advancing God’s Kingdom will be greatly missed,” Okoh said.

The CAN president prayed for God’s comfort and strength for the bereaved family, church members and all those mourning the cleric.

“We pray that the Lord will comfort his family, the All Christians Fellowship Mission, and all who are grieving at this difficult time. May God grant them the strength to bear this loss and uphold them with His unfailing grace,” he stated.
