Businesswoman and media personality Sophia Momodu has threatened to take legal action against actress Caroline Hutchings over alleged defamation.

The dispute arose from a Snapchat post shared by Hutchings, popularly known as Caroline Danjuma, on July 3, in which she accused an unnamed woman of having a romantic relationship with her former partner while they were still together.

“Funny how I pretend I am stupid but I know the girl I defended on national TV was sleeping with my man while I was with him now my ex. She was in clubs with her American friends twerking on him. I act like I don’t see it, but I see it all,” the post reads in part.

“Posting his cars and sh*t. Now I know why your baby daddy didn’t choose you. You are dirt; you sleep with your friend’s man. You will pretend you are like us, but you sleep with your friend’s man. Yet you post pictures like you are good.”

Although the post did not name anyone directly, it quickly fuelled speculation on social media, with many users interpreting it as a reference to Momodu.

In a pre-action notice, dated July 14, 2026 and issued by Ahonaruogho, Ahonaruogho & Co. (Paradise Law Firm), Momodu, who has a child with singer Davido, is demanding a public apology, compensation and N10 billion in damages.

Momodu accused Hutchings of making the Snapchat post that was allegedly understood by the public to be about her.

The letter claimed the post was later republished across blogs and social media platforms, exposing her to cyberbullying, ridicule, and public backlash.

According to the letter, Momodu privately reached out to Hutchings on July 3 to ask her to clarify whether the post was directed at her.

However, she alleged that Hutchings neither responded nor issued any clarification, despite being aware that the public had linked the post to her.

Momodu’s lawyers described Hutchings’ failure to respond as a deliberate omission that reinforced a false narrative and further damaged Momodu’s reputation, emotional well-being, and public image.

The legal letter outlined four specific demands for the actress to fulfil within 48 hours.
