A man reportedly heading to church was shot dead by suspected gunmen in Fann community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly happened around 8 a.m. on Sunday, throwing residents into panic.
A resident, Erica Dung, who confirmed the killing, expressed sadness over the incident and described it as another attack on people in the community.
Dung said residents were becoming increasingly worried about the alleged attacks and killings recorded in different communities across the local government area.
The latest incident occurred amid renewed concerns over the security situation in Barkin Ladi and surrounding communities, as residents called for improved security measures to protect lives and property.
Reacting to the killing, the Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Moulders, Rwang Tengwong, condemned the incident and appealed for urgent action to safeguard residents.
Tengwong called on security agencies to step up surveillance operations and increase patrols in communities considered vulnerable to attacks.
He also urged the Plateau State Government and security agencies to track down those behind the killing and ensure they face justice.
The youth leader further advised residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities or movements to the relevant authorities.
Efforts to get a response from the security agencies were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
