A physically challenged voter in Ejigbo, Osun State, Aminat Akinsola has praised electoral officials for ensuring that she was able to vote without difficulty during Saturday’s governorship election.
Akinsola voted at Polling Unit 6 in Ward 4, where officials reportedly made provisions for her during the accreditation and voting stages.
She said the assistance meant she did not have to endure the challenges of remaining in the queue with other voters and was able to complete the process conveniently.
“I’m so happy because I was treated with respect while I was trying to cast my vote. I was even the first person to be accredited,” Akinsola said.
The voter also commended the calm situation at the polling unit, saying the peaceful conduct of voters made the exercise more comfortable.
She expressed hope that whoever emerges from the election would reflect the genuine choice of the people of Osun State.
Security personnel were also present at the polling centre to maintain order and assist with managing voters as the exercise continued.
As part of crowd-control measures, young voters were organised into groups based on gender.
The development occurred as voters across the state participated in the election to determine the next governor of Osun State.
