Nollywood personalities have joined calls for urgent medical help for veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, as his family searches for treatment options amid his stage-four cancer battle.
Femi Adebayo was among those who raised the alarm, appealing to Nigerians to connect the actor’s family with cancer specialists, hospitals and advanced treatment centres that could review his medical condition and offer further options.
“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo wrote.
The actor stressed that the family’s immediate concern was finding the right medical expertise rather than raising funds.
“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction,” he said.
Adebayo encouraged people with links to oncologists or specialised cancer facilities to contact the family and help explore possible avenues for treatment.
“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist please help reach out to his family immediately,” he added.
Toyin Abraham also amplified the appeal after sharing a video featuring Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira, on Instagram.
“Pls kindly send dm to @kira_taiwo @limataiwo_ or me pls🙏🙏🙏🙏 Anyhow anyone can help ejoor🙏🙏🙏🙏,” she wrote.
The renewed support followed separate appeals from the actor’s daughters, who disclosed their father’s health condition and sought assistance from medical professionals and well-wishers.
Lima said her father’s condition had become worse and that some hospitals were no longer willing to continue his treatment. Kira, meanwhile, revealed that he was unable to continue chemotherapy at his current hospital.
The sisters maintained that their appeal was focused on securing medical intervention and not financial donations.
At 66, Hassan is regarded as one of the notable veterans of Yoruba cinema. His acting career spans over 40 years, during which he has featured in more than 300 films.
