The All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State is closing ranks behind Governor Nasir Idris ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with prominent party stakeholders expressing confidence in his return to office.

The latest backing came from the Managing Director of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, Abubakar Yelwa, who also serves as an APC stakeholder in the state.

Speaking during an engagement with the governor’s Media Team in Abuja on Monday, Yelwa attributed his support to what he described as the governor’s strong performance since assuming office.

He said the administration had made visible progress in several areas within its first two years, adding that residents and different groups had continued to commend the governor’s efforts.

According to Yelwa, the groups include traditional and religious leaders, women and youth organisations, labour unions, academics, traders, agro-allied businesses and elder statesmen.

He maintained that the support for Idris was not restricted by ethnic, religious or political differences.

Among the initiatives he credited to the administration were the payment of scholarships and outstanding scholarship obligations, improvements in schools, settlement of pension and gratuity arrears, distribution of farming inputs, and the development of hospitals and primary healthcare centres.

He also pointed to various empowerment and welfare programmes designed to improve the economic well-being of residents.

“These and many other incentives not mentioned have made the people feel indebted and eagerly waiting to reciprocate in 2027,” Yelwa said.

“Besides, the interest of the people in his re-election supersedes his personal interest as it were.”

Yelwa further spoke about HYPADEC’s partnership with the state government, particularly efforts to provide drinking water and transportation for riverine communities.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Ahmad Faruk, also declared his support for the governor.

Faruk said “there is no vacancy in Kebbi State Government House” while citing Idris’ achievements and what he described as the people’s confidence in his administration.

The Governor’s Media Team, led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK, said its nationwide tour was intended to highlight the government’s achievements and engage stakeholders on ways to sustain development in the state.

The team said it would continue its engagements with media organisations and other stakeholders as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
