The spokesperson for the Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has declared his intention to defeat the lawmaker representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Oluwole Oke, in the 2027 election.

Olajengbesi, who is contesting the seat on the platform of the Accord Party, said the outcome of the recent Osun governorship election had strengthened his resolve to challenge Oke.

Oke, an All Progressives Congress member, has represented the constituency in the House of Representatives since 2003.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Olajengbesi said the governorship election results showed that voters in the constituency were increasingly open to a change in representation.

He said, “I defeated Oluwole Oke in the Osun governorship election. In Oriade, Accord got 21,343 votes, while APC had 14,863. In Obokun, Accord had 12,023, while APC scored 16,120. The total votes for Accord were 33,366 while APC had 30,983, defeating him by a 2,383-vote margin.

“My ambition rests on several strategic arguments, shifting political dynamics, and grassroots narratives. I’m a necessary intervention against political monopoly. Wole Oke has held the Green Chamber seat since 2003. A 24-year continuous recycling of leadership has stagnant ideas and stifled the growth of our constituency.”

The declaration comes as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Olajengbesi said his campaign was aimed at ending what he described as prolonged political dominance in the constituency and providing voters with a fresh alternative at the National Assembly.
