Veteran American tennis star Serena Williams has revealed that she does not typically eat a traditional breakfast on days when she trains, choosing to have her first meal around lunchtime instead.
Williams shared details of her eating routine while discussing her new meal collection with Factor, featuring meals she personally selected to suit her lifestyle and training demands.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion explained that her food choices focus on quality ingredients and sufficient protein to support her active schedule, which now includes training and competition.
Speaking to People, Serena said she does not usually eat in the morning and instead structures her meals around her training sessions.
“I’m not really a breakfast person, so my first meal is usually around lunchtime. I’ll start with protein, have something lighter before I train, and then make sure I have a more substantial meal afterward to recover,” Serena said.
She also explained that dinner follows a different approach, as she prioritises spending time with her daughters rather than strictly planning the meal around her training routine.
“Dinner is different. I try to cook for my daughters every night, so that meal is less about what I need for training and more about sitting down together as a family,” she said. “That time is really important to me.
Williams added that taste and nutritional quality remain important considerations in her meals.
“Quality and taste are really important to me. I want real ingredients, plenty of protein and lots of color on the plate.”
