The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at the NAF Base in Ikeja, Lagos.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Air Force said the helicopters were supplied by Airbus Helicopters and reassembled with technical assistance from Airbus personnel.
According to the statement, the initiative is aimed at deepening technical cooperation, promoting knowledge transfer and providing NAF personnel with hands-on experience in the maintenance and support of modern rotary-wing aircraft.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the development as a positive step towards strengthening the technical and operational capacity of the service.
Aneke said, “Beyond acquiring modern platforms, we are committed to developing the knowledge, partnerships and support systems required to maximise their operational value and sustain them throughout their service life.”
The NAF said the H125 helicopters would provide additional capability for ongoing air operations, including surveillance, tactical mobility and other operational support missions.
The service also appreciated the continued support and strategic direction of the President and Commander-in-Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security capabilities continued to support its fleet modernisation and operational effectiveness.
