Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Saturday led political leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the state to endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement took place at Lafia Square in Lafia, Nasarawa State, during a North-Central zonal gathering attended by APC leaders, elected officials and party supporters from the six states in the region and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Jos on Saturday by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.
According to the statement, Mutfwang attended the event alongside First Lady Oluremi Tinubu; APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; governors from the region; and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, among other political leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Mutfwang declared his support for Tinubu on behalf of APC stakeholders from Plateau State, expressing confidence in the President’s leadership and the potential for further progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The governor commended Tinubu’s economic reforms, stating that their consistent implementation could create a stronger foundation for economic growth, agricultural transformation, infrastructure development, job creation and improved national prosperity.
He argued that a second term would provide an opportunity for the administration to consolidate ongoing reforms, expand development across key sectors and strengthen the foundations for a more inclusive and resilient economy.
While acknowledging the economic difficulties and security challenges facing the country, Mutfwang urged Nigerians to support efforts to stabilise the economy, improve national security and expand opportunities for citizens.
He stressed that nation-building requires purposeful leadership, collective responsibility and sustained cooperation among stakeholders.
The governor described the gathering of APC leaders and supporters from across the North-Central region as a demonstration of shared political commitment and unity in support of Tinubu’s vision for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
He said the endorsement reflected confidence in the President’s leadership and Renewed Hope Agenda, while highlighting the region’s commitment to national unity, continuity of governance and sustainable development.
Members of the Plateau State delegation included Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo; the state’s First Lady, Helen Mutfwang; Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Naanlong Daniel; and the governor’s Chief of Staff, Jeremiah Satmak.
Other members were former Plateau State Governor and Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye; former Deputy Governor Pauline Tallen; the governor’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Istifanus Mwansat; APC candidates for the 2027 elections; political leaders; party stakeholders; support groups; and APC supporters from across the state.
