Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Ademola Adeleke, Osun State Governor; and Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra State Governor, have been included in the expanded presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the new council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

Under the revised arrangement, Wike will coordinate the party’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT, while Soludo will oversee its campaign in Anambra. Adeleke has been named campaign coordinator for Osun State.

Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has been appointed Deputy National Coordinator I for stakeholders’ mobilisation in the South-West.

Wike belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Soludo secured a second term in November 2025 under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Adeleke won re-election on August 16 under the Accord Party.

The APC initially released its campaign council list on August 22, naming Abdulaziz Yari, former Zamfara State Governor, as Director-General. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals.

In the revised list, Akpabio, Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been appointed Deputy Vice-Chairmen I, II and III, respectively. Buni has become Deputy Director-General I for the North.

Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President, who previously served as Deputy Director-General III for the North, has been moved to the position of Deputy Director-General II for the region.

Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Leader, and Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, have been appointed Deputy Director-Generals I and II for the South, respectively.

Another major change is the appointment of all 32 APC governors as campaign coordinators in their respective states. Sharafadeen Alli, the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, has also been named campaign coordinator for the state.

Mohammed Abubakar, the APC governorship candidate in Bauchi State, will coordinate the campaign there, while Chijioke Chukwu, the party’s candidate in Abia State, has been appointed coordinator for the state.

Unlike the initial list, the revised council includes 14 advisers. They include Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Florence Ita-Giwa, former senator representing Cross River South; Ibikunle Amosun, former Ogun State Governor; Iyiola Omisore, former APC National Secretary; and Wale Edun, former Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially opened campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections on August 19.

According to INEC’s revised timetable, the campaign period will end on January 14, 2027.

Other prominent contenders in the 2027 presidential election include former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.
