Christian movie Agbara Nla: The Return has earned more than ₦307.2m from cinema screenings, making it the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026 so far.

The film’s distributor, Nile Group, shared the latest figures on Instagram on Friday, celebrating the strong support it has received from cinema audiences.

The achievement also makes the production the most successful Nollywood release for the month of October, according to the distributor.

“Thank you, Nigeria! Agbára Nlá: The Return has grossed N307.2M+, the highest-grossing Nollywood title ever for an October release and the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood title of 2026,” the announcement read.

The movie’s earnings have continued to rise since its debut, when it generated more than ₦170.6m within its first four days in cinemas.

Nile Group had announced the opening figures on October 5, expressing excitement over the film’s performance.

“The revival is here. The power is moving. Agbara Nla: The Return opened with N170.6m+. It can only be God,” the distributor said.

The company also acknowledged movie lovers for their support, revealing that the film attracted large crowds and sold-out screenings.

“Thank you, everyone, for the packed cinemas, SOLD-OUT shows and incredible love,” it added.

At the time, Nile Group also described the film’s opening as the biggest weekend debut for a Nollywood movie outside December, the strongest October opening and the highest opening weekend for a faith-based production.

The film is a modern remake of the 1993 Christian movie created by Mike Bamiloye. His sons, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua “Jay Mikee” Mike-Bamiloye, directed the new version.

Released in cinemas on October 1, 2026, the production revisits the story more than three decades after the original film was made.

Its growing box office earnings place it among the leading Nigerian cinema releases of the year.
