The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that its presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, will campaign across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The party’s Director of Strategic Communication, Phrank Shaibu, disclosed this during an interview on ARISE News on Sunday, assuring Nigerians that no state would be excluded from Atiku’s campaign schedule.
“We are going to release our schedule in a few days. Or in a few hours. And you will see for yourself. You will be able to interrogate for yourself. That look, Atiku Abubakar – no state will be left out,” Shaibu said.
He explained that the campaign would extend beyond rallies in state capitals to include town hall meetings, community engagements and visits to local government areas and villages.
According to him, the approach is intended to enable the former vice-president to interact directly with Nigerians, understand their concerns and discuss the challenges facing their communities.
“We are not going to limit our campaign to just state capital or to just rallies. Atiku is already connected with the people. The people are hungry. People are dying. Do you understand? He needs to connect with them. He needs to listen to them,” he said.
Shaibu also argued that economic hardship was affecting citizens across the country, insisting that Atiku’s political appeal extended beyond northern Nigeria.
“As for the pathway, I’ll tell you. Our pathway is clear and simple. The man who is hungry in Zamfara is the same as the man who is hungry in Lagos. Forget the noise,” he said.
“Hungry Nigerians will vote for Atiku Abubakar. Atiku’s pathway is not limited to Northern Nigeria. Atiku’s pathway is across the length and breadth of Nigeria,” Shaibu added.
When asked which southern states the ADC candidate expected to win, Shaibu expressed confidence in Atiku’s prospects nationwide.
“I will not just be bold; I will be audacious about it. Atiku will win the entire country,” he said.
The ADC’s announcement comes amid discussions over President Bola Tinubu’s campaign plans for the 2027 election.
At the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 14, Tinubu said he would not accompany the campaign team to every rally, citing his responsibilities as president and the country’s financial obligations.
Vanguard had reported the president as saying that “the responsibility of this office does not pause” and asking the campaign team to “excuse me from going everywhere with you.”
The ADC campaign council has criticised the reported plan for Tinubu to make personal appearances in 12 states, arguing that candidates seeking the presidency should engage voters across the country.
Shaibu’s comments indicate that the ADC intends to adopt a nationwide campaign strategy, with its detailed itinerary expected to clarify the locations and timing of Atiku’s proposed engagements.
