[TRENDING VIDEO] Netizens react as Abuja traders reject Tinubu campaign banner

7

Traders at Banex Plaza, a major electronics market in Abuja, objected when an All Progressives Congress (APC) team tried to put up a large campaign banner featuring President Bola Tinubu.

Some traders said they felt pressured and wanted to remain politically neutral to protect their businesses. During the standoff, others chanted in support of opposition leader Peter Obi.

Police later supervised the banner’s display. The incident comes as political parties prepare for Nigeria’s 2027 elections amid heightened political tensions.

Here are some reactions on X:

Kwudi Rene – Still Becoming! @KwudiRene: You don’t want others to campaign but want to campaign. As how?

Nkanangsaviour @Nkanangsaviour1: The voice of the people is the voice of God. The people have rejected APC on earth and are being rejected in heaven as well—bad market.

Bright Eze Bright @ItsBrightezzy: I personally think banex guys should allow them to post their banners as it’s their civil right. That banner will be marketing OK ticket because it will be a symbol of mockery and failure. They people knows who they want to vote. That’s why it’s called secret ballot.

Eupal @eugeneonwuka6: No wahala na. Tomorrow people will start hanging opposition banners for player as well

Harry British🎗️ @Harryonyeji: The failure has been rejected.

Tinubu must go.

Faith John/Virtual assistant @VAfaith36: They don’t want bad market
