The daughter of late Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu has appealed to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to remove its social media announcement confirming her father’s death.
Chiamaka, popularly known as Chiamax, made the emotional plea in a video posted on her Instagram page, hours after news of the actor’s passing emerged.
She maintained that she wanted to be the person to officially announce her father’s death rather than have the guild make the announcement on her behalf.
“Please take down the post. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death,” she said.
In the emotional video, Chiamaka also urged the AGN and members of the public to stop sharing her father’s pictures or death posters and refrain from calling her.
“Please, Actors Guild, I don’t want you guys posting my daddy. Please don’t post my papa. This is a very hard video for me to make. Nobody should call me, nobody should post my daddy’s poster,” she said tearfully.
She further expressed her grief, revealing that she was still wearing her father’s shirt while appealing to the guild to respect her request.
“I’m still wearing my daddy’s shirt. Take that post down, please. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death. I don’t want you guys to do that for me.”
Ikpechukwu reportedly died on Thursday, November 5, 2026, following a prolonged illness.
The AGN National President, Alhaji Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, announced the actor’s death on Friday through a social media post, where he also paid tribute to the deceased.
