Leo DaSilva recommends video wills amid Alex Ekubo’s family dispute

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Leo DaSilva has advised people to make video wills amid the ongoing family dispute following the death of actor Alex Ekubo.

Alex Ekubo passed away in May 2026 after battling kidney cancer and was laid to rest in his hometown on June 18, 2026.

A few days after the burial, disagreements emerged when members of the late actor’s maternal family questioned his stepmother, who had raised him since he was seven years old, over the circumstances surrounding his death and the decision to prevent relatives from viewing his body.

The issue escalated when Alex’s elder sister allegedly contacted a blogger to write articles against the stepmother, who the actor had acknowledged and his mother.

Reacting to the development, many Nigerians questioned Alex’s biological mother for abandoning him when he was seven only to come out after his death. Others attributed the crisis to sharing of the deceased’s property.

Speaking amid the controversy, Leo Dasilva recommended video wills, and urged the public to make a video of how they want their property to be shared after death.

He wrote, “I wish people understand that blood relatives can still mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. They could be your enemies and they could actually not even be in your life.

“This is why I always suggest video wills. Make a video of exactly what you expect after your death so that people don’t confuse your enemies for your family because of relation by blood.”
