Family members, friends and sympathisers on Thursday gathered at the Fadeyi residence of the late Lagos State Organising Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Toba Ijaya, for a special Islamic prayer in his honour.
Islamic clerics led the prayer session, attended by dozens of mourners who paid tribute to the slain union official.
Ajiboye’s gravesite, located within his residence, was decorated with floral arrangements, including flowers spelling the word “ICON,” as mourners offered prayers for the repose of his soul.
The NURTW official was shot by unidentified gunmen along the Ikorodu Road/Fadeyi corridor on July 12, 2026.
He was rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital on Lagos Island, where he later died from injuries sustained in the attack.
Ajiboye was buried at his Fadeyi residence on July 21 in the presence of a large crowd of colleagues, family members and supporters.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command said investigations into the killing were ongoing.
The command said it had launched a manhunt for the gunmen responsible for the attack and assured the public that efforts were being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
