PFIPC: Court orders arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi over absence

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, after he failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment.

Justice Muhammed Umar granted the application on Monday following an oral request by police counsel, Wisdom Madaki, who told the court the defendant had repeatedly failed to attend proceedings despite several adjournments.

Although Adeyemi’s lawyer, Genesis Francis, appeared in court, he attributed his client’s absence to alleged threats to his life. The prosecution opposed the explanation and urged the court to invoke Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015.

Justice Umar observed that since the case was filed in November 2025, the defendant had appeared in court only once and had missed four consecutive sittings. He subsequently directed security agencies to arrest Adeyemi and produce him before the court on September 30 for arraignment.

Adeyemi is facing an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation. The Federal Government accused him of forging presidential appointment letters, official State House documents and other government correspondence while falsely presenting himself as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

He has yet to enter a plea to the charges before the court.
