The Bashar Chiefdom Community Development Association has welcomed Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s decision to restore Abdullahi Idris as the Rekna of Bashar in Wase Local Government Area, describing the move as a step toward unity and justice.
In a statement signed by the association’s President, Zakari Mohammed, and Secretary, Yunusa Aliyu Garba, the group said the governor’s action reflected his commitment to grassroots leadership, cultural values and peaceful coexistence.
“We at BACCODA, on behalf of the entire people of Bashar Chiefdom, extend our heartfelt commendations to His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, for this noble and unifying gesture,” the statement read.
The association noted that restoring the traditional ruler was a victory for fairness and the preservation of long-standing cultural institutions.
“The reinstatement of the Rekna of Bashar is a triumph for justice, fairness, and the collective desire of our people to sustain our cherished traditional institutions. This action clearly shows the Governor’s willingness to listen to the yearnings of the people and prioritise communal harmony above political divides.”
BACCODA expressed confidence that the development would encourage peace and stability within Wase Federal Constituency and other parts of Plateau State.
It also credited Mutfwang’s inclusive approach to governance with improving trust and cooperation among the state’s different ethnic and religious groups.
The association called on residents of Bashar Chiefdom and Wase LGA to support their traditional institutions, remain law-abiding and continue backing the Plateau State Government’s development initiatives.
It also reaffirmed its willingness to partner with the state government, traditional leaders and the Federal Government to promote sustainable development and improve the welfare of the people.
