Woli Agba knocks colleagues for allegedly disrespecting women

Popular standup comedian,  Ayo Ajewole, also known by his stage name Woli Agba has expressed his displeasure with his peers over the growing frequency of disdain for women’s bodies in their works.

He lashed out at the glut of unethical stuff being produced by content producers.

The actor described multiple occasions when, while watching skits with his young kid, he would move from the plays to the Bible due to the content’s immorality.

Woli Agba lamented the way of life of today’s young, accusing them of shirking actual labor and worth.

He wrote: “I am beginning to see the level of disrespect for women’s bodies increased on social media all in the name of content creation! Who are you creating the content for?

“I can’t count the number of times I have had to switch from IG to Bible each time my son was watching with me and we stumbled on some videos that are immoral in content.

“Kilode? Kiloshele? Wetin’ happen now? This generation. Sleep, wake up, and flex! That’s all! No values… Nobody is learning handwork anymore.

Woli Agba shared a graphic sketch on his Instagram page that showcased a young man grasping a girl’s butt when they were sitting and then lying on the bed to further emphasize his point.

Completely condemning the action as he resumed his rebuke address, he said: “I just had to pick this out of the ones I have been seeing lately. We are people of Culture and Tradition. Why the sudden boldness to put full hands-on women’s bom/butt all in the name of content creation?

“There are several ways to pass the same message without needing to touch sensitive areas.
“Which message am I passing when you have increased the viewer’s desire for the immoral? The message is for who? Or you are just out to enjoy yourselves before the camera?
“Is this funny? How can you even call this comedy? If you want to be known, please be known for something worth everyone’s applause.”

VIDEO: Pastor Adeboye asks congregation to pray God takes his life before sunrise if…

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has addressed rumors that he consults demonic spirits for power.

During his sermon Friday night, at the ongoing RCCG 2023 National Convention tagged, “Beyond Expectations”, at the Redemption Camp, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye urged his congregation to ask that God should kill him if he truly consults demonic forces for powers.

The cleric said he initially decided against addressing the rumors but changed his mind during one of his prayer sessions.

He said: “The sayings of some so-called prophets, particularly if they are saying something about me, I just ignore them.

“But I learned that recently some people were saying Pastor Adeboye is using demonic forces, (and) that there are some demons at the Redemption Camp.

“That Pastor Adeboye will consult them, then he will come and say, ‘My Daddy said’. And I just felt like I’m not going to pay any attention. But you see, they put these things on the Internet.

“While I was praying three days ago, praying for the convention naturally, I felt the leading, let me put it that way, that there might be some people who believe these things.

“So, I just want you to pray one more prayer; if there is any link between Pastor Adeboye and the forces of darkness, ‘Father, kill him before the sun rises.’

“We are going to settle that issue today. I want you to call on God that if Pastor Adeboye is contacting the devil one way or the other, if there are any connections between him and forces of darkness, kill him before the sun rises so that he doesn’t spoil your name; so that he doesn’t lead several people to hell.

“Then, you add to that prayer, ‘Say Father, but if this boy is using your power and your power alone, then multiply that power sevenfold’.”

Youths reject newly created LCDAs in Akure

Youths under the aegis of Akure Youth Coalition (AYC) have rejected newly created four Local Council Development districts (LCDAs) in the local government districts of Akure North and Akure South, Ondo State.

The AYC claimed that the establishment of just four LCDAs in Akure North and Akure South was a political ploy to underserve the populace.

It said that there was no rational reason to create further LCDAs from a local government that was smaller than Akure South, the state capital.
Akure South/Akure North federal constituency will have six LGAs/LCDAS under the proposed LCDAs, while other federal constituencies would have eight LGAs/LCDAS, according to a statement by the AYC’s president, Adekambi Oluwatuyi.

According to the statement: “We, the people of Akure therefore reject in its totality any LCDA creation that will shortchange our people.

“The LCDAs as created did not take into consideration the memoranda submitted to the government Committee by Akure Kingdom, which requested for the creation of eight LCDAs from Akure South.

“The map of the State has been balkanized to cede various parts of Akure to other communities and this will not be accepted.

“Akure, the State capital, should therefore be granted a Special Status and given the number of LCDAs as recommended to the government committee by the community.”

LASTMA warns skit makers, filmmakers against unauthorized use of uniform

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Friday has warned skit producer, filmmakers against usage of its uniforms, kits, and other accessories.

This was announced by LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, in a statement that was also signed by the organization’s director of public affairs and education, Mr. Taofiq Adebayo.

Oreagba claimed that the need for the warning was necessary because he saw a fully costumed actress wearing a LASTMA outfit in the Yoruba film “Gbogbo Lowo” as well as other skits and movies on other media.

He was displeased at the demeaning way the movie and comedy creators had represented the LASTMA institution.
The general manager claimed that without resorting to Section 79 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Law, which made such unauthorized use illegal, the organization’s management had denied the use of LASTMA uniforms.

“Film or skit makers who portray LASTMA Officer without applying for and being duly issued a permit for such portrayals, to desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the law.

“I believe that such sanity in movie production, regulation of possession and usage of LASTMA uniform will surely curb proliferation of LASTMA kits, uniforms and accoutrements in our society.

“We implore the National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other affiliated bodies to warn their members that anyone caught using the LASTMA Uniform without an approved permit will be prosecuted,” Oreagba said.

VIDEO: Osun Speaker confronts police officers extorting money from travellers

A video of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun helping some travellers recover money extorted from them by police officers has surfaced online.

The travellers were reportedly extorted by police personnel stationed around the Ido-Osun area.

Confirming the development in a statement, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu said the Speaker was returning from a trip to Ayedire LGA when some citizens flagged down his vehicle to complain about the illicit activities of the police officers.

The victims were travelling for the Osun-Osogbo festival.

They alleged that the officers rejected their pleas to allow them continue with their journey and forced three among them to make a transfer of N25,000 each.

In a viral video seen by NewsClick Nigeria, the Speaker was seen moving with a retinue of aides and colleagues as a crowd formed around them.

They were seen marching to the officers’ patrol van to inquire about the incident.

When asked, the leader of the police team reportedly confessed to the speaker that they collected the said amounts from the three commuters and pleaded for forgiveness.

Speaking with passersby who stopped to witness the incident, Egbedun charged Nigerians to be responsible citizens wherever they find themselves, as sanitising the nation is a collective responsibility.

He added that society will be a better place if citizens are “willing to be responsible”.

Reacting to the incident, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson, said the officers have been arrested.

  • Number of inmates awaiting trial steadily declining – NCoS

Number of inmates awaiting trial steadily declining – NCoS

There Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS has said that there are now 79,076 pre-trial detainees in its care than there were a year ago (79,785).

NCos revealed this at the International Conference on Prisons Justice, with the theme “Enhancing Global Response to Prisoners’ Justice,” organized by Earthspring International in collaboration with the Vincentian International Network for Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (VIN-JPC), Controller-General of NCoS Haliru Nababa in Abuja.

He said: “Of recent, the service has witnessed significant improvement in the area of access to justice by awaiting trial inmates because of the massive improvement in logistics support. The era of inmates missing their day in court due to lack of mobility has been mitigated to the barest minimum. This feat is better appreciated with knowledge of the disposition of inmates in NCoS custody.

“As at July 31, 2023, about 69 per cent (54,171) of 79,076 inmates were awaiting trial, while 31 per cent (24,905) were convicted. This remains the most daring setback to the NCoS. One can only imagine the enormity of having to consistently meet up with producing inmates in court as and when due, coupled with the complications of managing such a high number of pre-trial detainees, amid some form of overcrowding.”

“Another positive intervention is the Correctional Information Management System (CIMS), which has been developed to systematically manage cases of Awaiting Trial Inmates (ATI),” noted Nababa, who received an award for Excellent Leadership and his Principal Staff Officer (PSO), Salisu Mamma, received an award for Excellent Service.

Abdullahi Magaji, who was speaking on his behalf, said: “This has greatly aided in the smooth administration of our custodial centers, given that useful data is readily accessible.”

Conference Convener Rev. Fr. Victor Nyoroh stated that “August 10 is the day officially set aside for prisoners and their supporters” to remember those who passed away too soon in custody while urging stronger global action for better responses to prisoners’ justice.

He claims that the purpose of the conference is to present comprehensive answers that will aid in reforming the criminal justice system to make it more effective.
