The naira continued to trade against the United States dollar within a stable range across both the parallel and official foreign exchange markets on Friday, May 9, 2026.

At the Lagos parallel market, also known as the black market, Bureau De Change (BDC) operators sold the dollar at ₦1,395 and bought at ₦1,385.

The rates were gathered from traders operating in the unofficial forex market on Thursday, May 8.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) maintained that it does not recognise the parallel market and advised individuals seeking foreign exchange transactions to use authorised banking channels.

According to data from the official market, the dollar traded between a highest rate of ₦1,366 and a lowest rate of ₦1,355 at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM).
