Police nab three alleged banditry kingpins in Katsina

The Police Command in Katsina State said its operatives succeeded in nabbing three suspected notorious bandits kingpins.

This information is outlined in a statement released by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Abubakar Aliyu of the command on Tuesday in Katsina.

The statement reported that the incident took place on November 25, around 10:30 a.m., during a joint patrol with vigilante members in the Kwarare area of Jibia Local Government Area.

“Some suspected bandits opened fire on the patrol team, in which the officers valiantly returned fire, forcing the terrorists to abandon their evil plan and fled into the nearby bush.”

“While combing the scene and surrounding bushes, corpses of three neutralised suspected terrorists and a motorcycle which belonged to the bandits were recovered,” he said

The PPRO further mentioned that the deceased individuals were later identified as Bala Wuta, a suspected notorious leader of bandits causing terror in Jibia Local Government Area and its surroundings.

Additionally, the casualties included Dogo Na Sahura and Hassan Bukuru, recognized as notorious suspected terrorists creating fear in the region.

Aliyu conveyed that the police are actively working to apprehend the fleeing suspects, with the investigation into the matter still in progress.

The PPRO disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, commended the operatives for their professionalism, collaboration, and courage, encouraging them to maintain the high standards.

The Commissioner urged the residents of the state to continue providing the command and other security agencies with essential and timely information regarding criminal activities.

“Report to the nearest police station or other security agencies, any person seen with suspicious injuries, as some of the bandits have escaped with gunshot wounds,” he said.

He said it would assist the security agents to promptly take decisive action with a view to curbing criminal activities in the state.
