The Katsina State Police Command on Tuesday successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt, rescued the victims, and seized one operational motorcycle from suspected bandits in the state.

In a statement released on Wednesday, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, reported that the incident occurred along Baure Village road in Kankara LGA at approximately 6:30 pm.

The police responded following a report received by the Kankara Police Divisional Headquarters, indicating that suspected armed bandits had launched an attack on motorists with the intention of abducting them.

Upon receiving the report, the DPO Kankara, CSP Hassan Musa, promptly mobilized a team of operatives to the scene. There, they engaged the suspected bandits in a fierce gun battle, as stated in the release.

In addition to repelling the attack, the police managed to rescue one individual who had already been taken captive by the bandits before their arrival.

Furthermore, Sadiq noted that in recognition of this achievement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their exceptional bravery, dedication, and professionalism.

Musa emphasized that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while advising the public to report anyone observed with a bullet wound, as some of the suspects managed to escape the scene with gunshot injuries.

He also encouraged the residents of the state to consistently furnish the command and other security agencies with timely information regarding suspected criminal activities. This, he emphasized, would facilitate prompt and decisive measures against any defiant criminals in the state.

Furthermore, the CP reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of the state’s inhabitants under his leadership.
