Library must serve as a point of development in all aspects of people’s life’

The Chairperson Anambra Chapter of the Nigerian Library Association Dr Uju Nwafor-Orizu, called on the general public to develop to using library, optimally, to develop their intellectual ability and enhance national development.
She made the call in an interview with the press men on Thursday in Awka noted that libraries in the state were being under used.
She said that the reading culture and show of interest of the readable persons in the state was very minimal as evidenced in the number persons accessing the library.
According to her, when people develop the culture of reading, it will be translated into their attitude, adding that reading good book transforms the attitude of the reader and encourages social development.
The chairperson said that importance of library to individuals and societal development could not be overestimated and urged government and relevant stakeholders to join hands to improve the lots of the Nigeria library system.
She said that library must serve as a point of development in all aspects of people’s life.
Nwafor-Orizu described library as the bedrock of national development and urged the state government to make library an integral part of its development.
