2024 MOBO Awards: Asake defeats Tyla, Davido, others to clinch Best African Act

Nigerian artist Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has won the Best African Artist of the Year at the 2024 MOBO Awards held in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday night.

The “Mr Money” singer won the prize after defeating South African singer Tyla, Grammy-winning artist Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, and other national favourites.
Asake is now one of the Nigerian artists that has won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards, joining 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

Meanwhile, another Nigerian singer, Limoblaze won the Best Gospel Act at the award ceremony.

Likewise, Tunde, the British-Nigerian rapper, took up the Best New Artist trophy.

Topping the winners’ chart with two accolades, Central Cee, a British rapper, won Best Male Act and Song of the Year for his collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Dave on “Sprinter.”

Soul II Soul received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Drake and 21 Savage shared the Best International Act title.
