Grammy-winning Nigerian singers, Rema and Asake, recently broke new Afrobeats records.

Asake became the first Afrobeats musician to receive the GQ Global Creative Award in 2024.

The happy singer tagged GQ in a photo he posted of the plaque on his Instagram story.

Rema’s song “Calm Down” is up for a 2024 Swiss Music Award nomination for “Best Hit International” on the contrary side of the Atlantic.

The song “Calm Down” became the first Afrobeats/Nigerian song to be nominated for a Swiss Awards.

Recall that Nigerian Afrobeats superstars Burna Boy and Rema won their respective categories at the 2024 iHeart Radio Music Awards in the United States.

With his victory in the Best African Music Artist category, Burna Boy put an end to his dismal performance at award shows. However, Rema and Selena Gomez’s song “Calm Down” took home the Best Collaboration of the Year award.

The 2024 iHeart Radio Music Awards held live on FOX on Monday night and was hosted by rapper Ludacris.

The iHeart Icon Award went to Cher, and the iHeart Innovator Award went to American musical sensation Beyoncé.

Taylor Swift led the winners’ chart with six awards including Artist of the Year, Pop Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Best Lyrics, TikTok Bop of the Year, and Favorite Tour Style.

Burna Boy and Rema now join Wizkid and Tems as the only Nigerian artists to have won iHeart Radio Music awards.

Burna Boy had been on a winless streak at award shows, missing out on seven nominations at the 2023 BET Hip-hop Awards, four nominations at the 2024 Grammys, and six nominations at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.

On the other side of the Atlantic, he lost the Best International Artist of the Year at the 2024 Brit Awards.
