Comedian AY Makun discusses rumour of having child out of wedlock

Popular Nigerian stand-up comedian, AY Makun has spoken about the controversy associated with his celebration of a 17-year-old boy’s birthday on Instagram few weeks ago.

Remember how many people criticised AY right away after he released the photo, believing the tiny child to be his biological son?

However, AY has since corrected the record, saying he is the son of his younger sister.

During the Easter edition of his show, “AY Live“, the comedian took the opportunity to shed light on the situation.

He started out by reminding everyone of the characteristics of social media and the ease with which false narratives may be created without sufficient research.

AY clarified that after posting the boy’s picture on Instagram, he received a flurry of derogatory remarks and allegations from those who said he was the father of a child not born into his marriage.

Addressing the audience, AY said:

“Let me enlighten you all on how social media operates. There are times when a certain narrative spreads, and individuals blindly follow it without seeking the truth. When I posted the picture of my son on Instagram, I was bombarded with insults and derogatory remarks. People went as far as calling me a useless man and accusing me of having a 17-year-old child out of wedlock.”

AY then went on to reveal the truth, putting an end to the rumors. He stated: “Ladies and gentlemen, the son that I proudly shared on Instagram is not my biological child. Instead, he is my younger sister’s son. However, as a family, we consider him our own.”

In another story,  AY Makun speaks on marital crisis, burnt house, revealed that all his problems started after he supported Peter Obi.

The comic shared during his AY Live show that he harbours no regrets for supporting Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential ambition.

However, he noted that his problems started after he supported Peter Obi. He shared that after the elections, he lost his house, got into a major running with Davido and Seun Kuti and nearly lost his marriage.

To drive home his comment, AY Makun called out former Kogi state governorship candidate, Dino Melaye. The politician was physically present at the show.

The comedian and father of two noted that before the elections, Dino Melaye was very vocal and expressive about government issues. But since he lost his elections in Kogi state, he has become very quiet and no longer runs his mouth.
