Cynthia Morgan resumes calling out her former boss Jude Okoye

Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan has restarted her criticism of Jude Okoye, the head of her former label, regarding her royalties.

Cynthia posted a picture of the automobile he gave her in 2013—which she paid for with a mortgage—on her Instagram page.

She said that although Jude had claimed she owed him money and was unproductive for his label, she had received N5 million for her performances at Coke Studio and N1 million for her 11 concerts with Star Trek.

Cynthia Morgan made it quite evident that, despite her modest demeanour, she is not a fool when she pointed out that Jude hasn’t yet granted her “her” royalties on her intellectual property.

The dancehall star added that she wants him to be aware that he has prized God’s hand and is playing a dangerous game. She wrote:

“I got signed to Jude in October 2013 and this car was given to me in the last quarter of 2015 on “mortgage” As you can see I posted the car on my Instagram on the 5th of January 2016 and that was because they had to spray paint the car and all.

Jude claims I owe him money that I didn’t make him a dime while I was with his label. Coke studio alone paid me 5 million naira in 2016 and if I didn’t play shows for Star Trek during 2014/16 I played about 11 shows and I was never paid less than a million for each performance @judeengees and I am only saying these cause they are names brands. And what about my royalties on my intellectual properties. To date I haven’t seen a dime.

I keep quiet no mean say I be mumu.
But I want make you know say you don prize for God’s hand and you are playing a dangerous game”.

Cynthia Morgan said in 2020 that once she decided to leave the label, Jude took control of all of her social media profiles and removed her identity. Jude refuted this claim with evidence.

Joy Tongo, the former manager of Cynthia Morgan, made public the dancehall singer’s contract with Jude. The four-year contract, which was signed in October 2013, featured a two-year option extension, a 50/50 sharing formula, and no mention of Cynthia Morgan losing her name.

The embattled reggae cum dance hall star didn’t stop there, she accused him of owing her N7m and continued to drag him, raining curses on him as she wished him suffering and tagged him “evil”.

Reacting to her claims, Jude Okoye mocked her in a sarcastic tweet, playfully claiming that Dangote also owes him N20 billion. He added that if he shouted too long, it might also become real.

Making a move, Cynthia Morgan dragged him to court over the culpability of her intellectual property during their time together at Northside Entertainment.

In a court document, the singer demanded a full account of income and expenditure from her intellectual property.
