Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has shared that his daily prayer revolves around securing a Grammy award.
According to reports, Davido has received nominations in three categories for the 2024 Grammys.
His fourth studio album, ‘Timeless,’ is in the running for Best Global Music Album, and his tracks ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Feel’ are nominated for Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance, respectively.
In a recent interview with GQ, Davido expressed that his fervent prayer is to secure victories in these award categories.
He said: “Everybody knows what one of my prayer points is now. I have been nominated for three Grammys. So, everybody knows what I am praying for every day I wake up.”
Davido will compete for the Best Global Music Performance award against fellow Nigerian Burna Boy, as well as Arooj Aftab, Silvana Estrada, Béla Fleck, Falu, and Gaurav Shah.
In the category of Best Global Music Album, he will go head-to-head with Burna Boy, Susana Baca, Shakti, and Bokante.
For the Best African Music Performance accolade, he will contend with familiar artists such as Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and South Africa’s Tyla.
